Three long but problem free travel days!

A little behind on this update because we’ve been so busy keeping up with the kids! Got here on Mother’s Day as planned.

We pulled out of Deadwood on Friday the 10th around 9am. It was the first beautiful sunny day since we arrived. We had a 6 hour drive across South Dakota to Sioux Falls. Overall everything went smooth. It was long and windy at the end of our drive but we pulled into our KOA right off the freeway and set up, made dinner, and relaxed. Animals did great! The KOA was great, nice people with an escort to our pull through site. We give the Sioux Falls KOA a 👍.

Day 2 was Sioux Falls to West Liberty Iowa. Another long 400 miles to Little Bear Campground. Sunny day again with light winds to start. We took a route that was partly smaller highways but it turned out to be fine. Traffic was light, Betty behaved and we were very happy to arrive to a nice pull through site. Quiet and clean we give Little Bear a 👍. We made dinner and collapsed. One more day to West Lafayette! We were very happy to have made the decision to drive a long on day 2 to have a shorter drive day 3. The objective was to arrive in West Lafayette in time to attend Bodhi’s first recital and solo act with his bass. Grandma was determined to make it for that and to celebrate Mother’s Day with her peeps.

Got up early to pack up and move out. We’re getting pretty good at it lol. I prepare the inside while Joel does the outside. Then I go out and guide as he backs up the truck and we hook up. I feel like a scrub nurse lol. I hand him the pieces and tools as he goes through the process. We are starting to look like pros! Then I load up the animals and we close the slides. Theo now knows the sounds of hooking up to leave and usually hides under the recliners. I opened them up and he wasn’t there. Humm! Not too many other places to hide in a trailer. Guess where I found him? Lol not sure how he fit in the small cubby by the bed!

We hit the road about 8:30 on day three and had a 300 mile drive to Wolfe’s Leisure Time Campground in West Lafayette. Lots of construction and white knuckle driving in revised lanes on highway 80 and lots of traffic around the Chicago area. But….drumroll🥁! We made it!!! Against all the odds, issues, weather, you name it, we made it as planned!

Yesterday we took Betty to a Ford Dealership an hour away. We called no less than 10 dealerships to find one that could look at her transmission and hopefully fix it before the 29th. Waiting for a call with news of what’s required to get her fixed and when they can get it done. Positive thoughts are appreciated🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.

We’re here until May 29th! Going to enjoy every moment and will post the next blog when we’re headed south. Thanks for all of your comments, notes of encouragement and support. They truly kept us going when we were feeling down and frustrated with our problems. 😘
