A Long Pause in Indiana

It’s been a while so I’m excited to get everyone caught up. I’ve been posting updates on facebook but I know not everyone sees them. In my last update Betty was at the dealership and we were hoping she would be repaired by our scheduled departure date of May 29th. Well she wasn’t. We picked her up on May 31st at the very end of the day. It was a very long day waiting for that call. The stress of it all was weighing on both of us. We had to juggle a lot as a result:

Our spot at the RV park was reserved to the 29th. When we realized we were not getting Betty back we had to ask if we could extend our stay. Our spot 80 was reserved but they found us another one through Saturday but they were totally booked after that. So we had to get the truck back by Friday!
How do you move a 32 foot trailer with no truck?

We also had to get the heater repaired in the trailer. Remember it died in Deadwood. We had called and scheduled an appointment with the local Blue Dog dealership to get it fixed since it’s still under warranty. Well how do you get a trailer to the dealership without a truck? You don’t! So we bit the bullet and contacted a local company that does on site repairs. They came out on Sunday Memorial Day weekend and figured out what the problem was. But they needed to order the part and come back to install it. They finally did on Saturday June 1st right before we left on June 2nd. We ate the cost.

And we had to cancel our reservations at Cedar Lake (Joel was so disappointed) and our reservation on the way there. Got refunds which was great and rebooked after we knew we had Betty back.

The fun part of our long pause was getting to see the kids. The boys had multiple baseball games and practices a week and we didn’t miss many. They also had swimming meets/practices and we got to see them both swim. We also got there in time too see some schiool activities like Bodhi’s Musical and pick up the kids from the bus stop and walk home from school with Bodhi and go on our traditional Turkey Run hike. We gave the big kids a break for a few nights. We hung with the grands. Went to a movie and spent an afternoon in Indianapolis. We ate wonderful dinners prepared by Brandon and had a few picnics at the trailer. It was a busy, fun filled, great visit and I will cherish the memories and look forward to the next time.

So after retrieving Betty from Zionsville (an hour away) we came back and ate dinner and went to bed early we were so exhausted from the stress. Got up bright and early and packed up the truck: kayaks, bikes, solo stove, propane, gas can, water bottle, shovel, table, chairs, generator, and more lol. I went to the kids swim practice, then went shopping and back to the trailer. Joel stayed for the guy to come and finish the heater repair. Then we headed to the kids house and ordered BBQ for dinner…yummy! And said our goodbyes. We went back to our site and had our last Indiana camp fire and went to bed. Headed south in the am. South of St. Louis is our first destination. Next episode is Betty’s first pull with her new transmission.

Wolfe’s Leisure Time RV Park gets a 5* for the quality of the sites, the amenities, and the owners. Mary and Dale were great! We will go back when we visit the kids again.
