As you can see from the picture we have quite the compound here at Sunset Point! We’re down at the end of the park and have a big Oak Tree for shade. There are a couple of bucks that we share the tree with every afternoon. They are very friendly and don’t seem scared of us at all. We call them “the boys” and we enjoy having them around. Our bug tent has been a life saver. It’s the first location where we have used it.

We are right by LBJ Lake. It’s a huge lake formed by a dam on the Colorado river. We will be moving up to another lake formed the same way called Inks Lake next Monday. We’ve been out on the lake in the kayaks, been fishing, been swimming, and been going for nice walks in the morning before it gets hot.

Neither one of us have been fishing in years. We’ve had a couple of poles in the truck but haven’t gotten a fishing license in any of the other places we’ve visited. We decided to get them here in Texas because they’re out of state license for a year is only $68. We got some things for the tackle box and bought some chicken liver and set out to catch some catfish. We succeeded and it was loads of fun. We’ve thrown them all back so far but we plan to fry some up here before we leave. When we move to Inks Lake we will be parked right on the lake shore so fishing will be easy and I’m sure we will do it often.

We’ve also had fun wine tasting! I did not realize the Hill Country was know for wineries. There are 64 wineries listed in this area. So far we’ve been to about one a week and we have been pleasantly surprised with the quality. Unlike Pennsylvania they do actually have dry wines here! The venues have been very nice too! So far we have visited Fiesta, Parissos, Uplift, and Torr Na Lochs.

Looking forward to cooler temperatures this week! It has been a little hotter than we thought it would be. The air conditioner is on pretty much all day. For those of you who have lived in a trailer you know how loud that is. I grew up in the Pacific NW and have never been a fan of AC. However, I would hate to have to live without it NOW! Hoping for a nice last week here in LBJ and looking forward to a smooth transfer to Inks lake about 15 miles away. We will check back in from there.
