Our move was smooth! Easy hook up, 3 mile drive, and Joel backed in to our site #20 like the pro that he is. We have been very happy here. It’s a very nice park right on the water. Nice laundry room (always important) and a great recreation room with a ton of games:pool table, shuffle board, basket ball, darts and more. And very nice people mostly snow birds lol. One of the things we’ve learned is that there are two types of Rv’ers. People like us that are retired and enjoy traveling around. I would put snow birds in the same category. Then there are people who live in Rv’s because they are remote workers and people that just live in Rv’s that never move. Some RV parks cater to both and I would put Colonia del Rey in that category. It’s a big park that has more permanent residents than travelers. Each has a different culture and feel. We like the traveler parks, I would put Firefly in that category, much better for many reasons but the main one is that it’s easier to meet people and we all have one thing in common from the get go. We are all Nomads! We’ve met one couple here that we’ve really enjoyed hanging out with. Bill and Bev from Ontario. They have 2 dogs, Chico and Bentley, that are Finn’s besties. We have been walking together most mornings around that park for the dogs to do their business. And we’ve gone out as couples without the dogs and gotten together at each others place and we’ve had fun playing pool. Good times and lot’s of laughs!!! Meet Bev, Bill, Bentley and Chico!

What’s next? Well we’re here until March 5th. I leave for Indiana on Feb 1st and come back the 14th. Get to be there for Whitman’s birthday and a swim meet and see Brandon and Becca off to Kenya again. I will hang with the boys and then hand them off to Becca’s mom and head home on Valentines day to see my honey. After a few more weeks here we head out for 5 days in Tucson with Marilyn and then work our way home. We still call it that. We’ve got it all mapped out and will make some reservations through Tucson and then wing it. Our third month in Texas is just about over and we have 2 more months to go. Really enjoying the coast life. Many more walks on the beach, and exploring to come.
We just had our first freezing temps since we took off in May and had a 17 degree night at Yellowstone. The hurricane force winds were blowing all night rocking the trailer like crazy. We were unable to sleep most of the night because of the winds, and the sounds of freezing rain. Plus we have not had to turn the furnace on much because we have our nice fireplace which heats the trailer pretty well. But with temps in the low 30’s we had to turn it on. It’s effective but pretty loud so that didn’t help trying to sleep. Hoping for better temps after tonight!
Next up a video tour of the trailer requested by Mahe in France. And another photo dump of our adventures starting with visiting the local dive bar with our friends this afternoon.
Cheers friends
