Who Said it would be easy!

This post is missing important pictures because I learned in moments of stress you tend to forget to take them. The picture above was taken by Kellie of us pulling out of Horn Rapids on our way to Wallace Idaho. We were all moved out of our house and giddy with excitement to finally be on our way. All system go!

Until we were just shy of Coeur d’Alene about 3 1/2 hours down the road and we got an engine warning light. 😩 I got out the manual and looked it up. Says it’s a drive train error and we should contact a dealership immediately. Googled Ford dealerships and there was one off the next exit. Managed to find a place to park our bulk and Joel went in to see what they could do. I stayed in the truck with the animals and had a little talk with Betty (our truck) for those of you who don’t know. He came back and said they’d come and hook up the a computer to see what the story is. A very nice guy came and tried to connect but we needed WiFi so Joel had to back up into the street with me guiding him. He was a rockstar. Bottom line we could continue our trip with a minor adjustment and get the problem fixed in Indiana where we’ll be hanging for 3 weeks. I’ll spare you the details. We will make an appointment for when we arrive so they’ll be ready for.

On the road again. Slightly nervous about Betty. Made it without further incident to Wallace. Found our RV Park checked in and Joel backed in for the first time no problem. All good until I opened the slide😩. I felt a little hesitation as it was opening and stopped went outside to take a look and saw a fountain spewing from the water hook up 🙈Opps!!! Ran over and turned the shutoff valve. Walked down to the office with my tail between my legs. Told them what happened and they were so sweet. No big deal. All good. Move to the next spot so Joel got to back in a second time in one day. Practice makes perfect. Time for a glass of wine 🍷

Tomorrow I’ll post about our stay in Wallace and our trip to Livingston. I’m behind because it’s been difficult to upload pictures. So will try and catch up soon. Tomorrow we head out early for Yellowstone. Old Faithful here we come. Very excited. Then Sunday we leave fir Deadwood South Dakota.

  1. It’s good to get all that stuff out of the way in the beginning. Are you guys staying in West Yellowstone? I loved The geyser area, when I was there, it was during the pandemic and they were no groups of 10 or more allowed in the park.

Glad you’re getting your problems straightened out early. I’d say that it’s normal to iron out stuff in the beginning of a trip! 😘

  4. You really have started on an adventure! Glad to hear everything is working out and the people you’ve came across are nice and helpful! Enjoy all the parts of your exciting journey. Can’t wait to see and hear more. Happy and safe travels.
