We arrived at Manzano’s RV Park in Silver city our new home for the next 3 weeks on Thursday June 20th after a 329 mile smooth drive from Carlsbad. John the owner greeted us and escorted us to our site. A nice pull through with a little picnic table. We got all settled in and took Finn for walk and ditched the animals for downtown and a rare meal out. We ate at a local brewery/restaurant called the Little Toad. It was good food, good service, and they had good beer. We talked about how excited we were to finally be here. Joel has been here several times (I’ve never been to New Mexico) and he’s been talking about how much he loved it. Great weather pretty much year around. Lot’s of blue sky which is one of our major criteria for a forever home. So expectations are high.
This week we’ve been busy. We walked around downtown to get the lay of the land, we’ve visited museums, gone hiking and kayaking, and just driven around through the Gila Mountains. Saturday nights the owner of the RV park smokes up something in his Traeger and they put on a dinner. Potluck for desserts. This week we are going armed with a Key Lime pie. Here is a photo gallery of our escapades this week.

We ended the week the way we started by enjoying a meal out. We went to a French restaurant and the food was great but we didn’t know it was a BUOB so we had dinner with water and not wine lol.
We are tracking our expenses and we’ve been over budget for the first 2 months out but we figure we can reel it in and be under budget for a few months later in the year when we aren’t moving around so much. We’ve been traveling lots of miles! 5017 miles as of our arrival in Silver City! Wow! Even that shocked us just a little. Monday will be exactly 2 months that we’ve been on the road. We’ve had longer stops to see family in Indiana and Oklahoma and we are hanging out here in Silver City to see if it is a contender for a forever home. Next week we have more fun things planned and next Saturday we have a VIP visit from Marilyn for a few days. She’s driving in from Tucson and the highlight visit will be the Gila Cliff Dwellings. I can wait to see Marilyn and do some more fun exploring.
Stay tuned for another update next week. Until then…..
