Silver City Continued….. and on to Albuquerque

Wow! We have done Silver City! I think we hit all of the highlights. A few good restaurants including the famous Buckhorn Saloon and Restaurant in Pinos Altos last night with Marilyn. And a few great dinners here at the Manzano RV park cooked by the owner John who is a meat smoking guru. We just might be back!

I would say the highlights were the Gila Cliff Dwellings, and the Museums. We also had a few really fun hikes. Seeing the ancient Petroglyphs on the Dragon Fly trail and the Continental Divide trails were both awesome. It is really beautiful here. There are so many fun galleries and eclectic antique stores that were fun too. Plus we got to see the 4th of July Parade which was pretty impressive for a small city. And we enjoyed the fireworks show that was a nice surprise. On the serious side of things we also got the stabilizer replace so we are well supported on all 4 corners!

After about 3 weeks here we are ready to move north to Albuquerque and then on to cooler temps in Pegosa Springs and the mountains of Colorado for the next month or so. The last stop we have planned at this point is Mancos Colorado where we will camp out for a month. There is so much to see in the area there will be many day trips. The highlight just might be Mesa Verde National Park we will see. Marilyn gave us a great book called Exploring the Southwests Grand Circle which will be our guide. And she brought me a delicious early birthday cake which we enjoyed and are still enjoying.

Here is a fun photo gallery of our adventures here!

Funny story…Marilyn brought her hiking boots for our trip to the Cliff Dwellings and she walked the soles right off of her shoes! Time for new hiking boots Marilyn!

Marilyn had breakfast with us this morning in the Frey and she headed home. Her visit was also a highlight of this stop! We have the truck all packed, and the tires checked after getting an oil change and a tire rotation for Betty. A quiet dinner planned and an early bedtime tonight. Back on the road tomorrow. Santa Fe and Albuquerque here we come!

Stay tuned because we’re just getting started!

Dear Kathy and Joel, Thank you for inviting me to be part of your “adventure.” It was a terrific visit – the best art galleries, the best bar, the best restaurant, the best pottery, AND, best of all – the hike up to the Gila Cliff Dwellings – a place I have wanted to see for a long time!! It was fun being with you!!!

    Enjoy your next adventure!

    Love,

    Marilyn
