Back on the Grid in Mancos Colorado the Gateway to Mesa Verde

Mesa Verde

After 3 weeks in a beautiful spot up on Wolf Creek Pass at The Bruce Spruce Ranch at 8000 feet we have moved down a 1000 feet to Cortez Colorado and the Riverwood RV Park. Big change! We miss the trees and welcome our connectivity. And we’re very excited to be a few miles from the entrance to Mesa Verde and so close to many other places we plan to visit: Durango, Telluride, Deloris, the train to Silverton, Four Corners and more.

We’ve passed the three month mark after 6000 miles traveled and 13 states touched with no plans to slow down.

Our new map on the back of the trailer. Will add states as we go.

We’ve got to get into planning mode for the rest of the year. I’ll publish our itinerary so if anyone can join us along the way we can get plans in the works. I think we will be able to meet up with friends Mark and Fritzi in Missouri when we head back to the Hill Country of Oklahoma before we head down to the Hill Country of Texas. Always excited to see friends and family along the way.

We ended our stay in Pagosa with some new friends we met there. They invited us for dinner and we had such a great time. Mike cooked us his special Mexican Tacos and a beautiful Brown Trout he caught. And Dawn made us a peach cobbler cooked in a Cast iron pot on the camp fire. It was the best kind of meal where we all helped cook and then we sat down and enjoyed a meal with a good bottle of wine!

I’m kind of working backwards because it’s been so long that the memories are all blending together lol. Not being able to get this done when it all happens is a challenge. We did a lot of fun walks/hikes, saw so much wildlife, had a camp fire every night, and really enjoyed the beauty. We drove over the pass which is about 11,000 feet to Creede which is a cool old mining town and did so much more. Here is a gallery working backwards with some repeats for those of you who have seen the Nomad Facebook posts. I’m including them because not all of you use Facebook. If you want to friend us on the Nomad Adventures page please do.

We loaded up between rain showers and headed out Saturday morning for Mancos. All systems go. Betty and the Frey did great and so did Finn and Theo. We’re now here for a full month and have plans to get a guided tour of Mesa Verde on Thursday.

  1. That trip of yours is awesome! Looks like Joel has been there before? And that trout is huge! What did he catch it with?
